Fatboy Slim -- "Palookaville"

Fatboy Slim is a Big Beat Techno master. This is his fourth album Palookaville which unlike his other albums relies more on actual instruments. This album is just a complete treat to listen to. Even though it's a techno album it uses a lot of actual instuments and features a lot of differing and amazing sounds. Two of the best examples of this are firstly the song "Wonderful Night" which is a rap and techno collaboration featuring Lateef of Quannum Productions. The thing that is really cool about it though is that it has a 50s style beat with lots of instumentation as well as melodious rapping. The other song of mention is a cover on the Steve Miller Band song "The Joker" which features former Parliment band member Bootsy Collins in vocals. It gives the song a very funk laden sound and makes it definatly it's own song and not just a similar sounding cover.

This cd is just brilliant and I think everyone should give it a try. It redifines the things you can hear in a techno album. This one recieves a definate 4 out of 4 stars.
