The Urge -- "Master of Styles"

Imagine hard rock band Distrubed had a child with ska group Mighty Mighty Bosstones and you'd have The Urge. A very energetic band that combines hard rock with ska for a very distinct sound all their own. This their second album expands on all the good things they did on the first album but also lands some maturity as well as guest vocals by the band's good buddies 311. Unfortunatly for having such a cool sound it only lasted 3 albums before the band broke up over musical differences. This album is definatly the band's most mature album as they knew what they were doing in this one. They're able to flow from song to song with very fluid movement. They were able to take the raw energy from the first album and really define it in this one. If you're looking for an interesting cd then this one is one you should check out.

The Urge is not for everyone, and it's also slim pickins as there are only three cds. But if you like ska or hard rock or both and you're looking for something interesting you might want to check out this album particularly. Back in high school I couldn't get enough of this cd, now I like it when I listen to it. It's not as lasting as most cds, but it's still quite good. Because of this I'm giving it 3 stars out of 4. If it was a little more lasting then it could hop up to 3.5. But it'll be at 3.
