Trapt -- Trapt

This is the self titled debut of the alternative metal rock band Trapt, whom have one of the worst stories of how they got their name, basically they called themselves Trapt because they felt trapped in their privileged up bringing. As to the music, when this band does alternative metal, they hit it spot on, when they try and pull a "Staind" and go for a slow song they do it awfully. As long as they're sticking to hard alternative they can be a good band. The album starts with the chart topper "Headstrong which really is the best song on the album, after that they pump out a bunch more no name hard songs that give you a good rush. But then there are those songs such as "Echo" that try to be a feel good alternative song and it just feels out of place. Well as it turns out, Echo sort of marks the start of the slower ballad songs that Trapt just doesn't score well with, this album is about half Trapt and half trying to be Staind. Luckily though they are able to finish strong with the song "New Beginning".

If you like alternative hard rock then you might want to check this group out. If you like Staind (and I don't) then you might also want to check out this group. Overall it's about half and half, There is some good stuff on the album but there's also just some rubbish, which means I'm giving this album right in half, 2 out of 4 stars.
