The Urge -- Too Much Stereo

In honor of my 100th review I will review my 100th cd. I counted once and noticed I owned around 95 cds, and so I counted up until 100, and this was the 100th. i bought it on the day it came out as I was big fan of The Urge at the time. For those that haven't heard of them and I'm sure it's most of you reading this, this band combines a couple of styles together, most notably ska and thrash metal. Imagine 40% Disturbed with 60% Mighty Mighty Bosstones. This cd is their third and last cd. They broke up due to musical differences and for anyone familiar with the first two cds, when listening to the third cd you would understand why. Basically they tone it down to 10% Disturbed and 90% Bosstones. Which is really sad cause I really think on their first two cds they had a really good balance, but this one just doesn't cut it with the other cds. There are still a couple of songs which make the cd enjoyable to listen to but overall it feels like a let down. The highlight of the cd is the combination of the songs I Go Home and Say A Prayer, I Go Home is a more thumping song with some electronic elements added in followed by a multi-faceted song which hits a couple of varying styles.

Overall, not as good a cd as the other two but it still has it's moments, only get it if you're a fan of the other two cds and you really want more Urge in your life. This one only gets a 1.5 out of 4 stars. Not the biggest 100th cd ever, but you win some, you lose some.
